The Young Adults Fellowship
The
Young Adults Fellowship or, The Y, began in the late 70s with the aim of
bringing together young men and women who love God, love to read and
study His word, love to share it with others and impact the world around
them, and love to have fellowship with one another. This purpose has not
changed, and even today, as the Y is re-launched, it will form the basis
of all its activities.
Who can join the Y?
Singles and married couples with no kids.
Any age limit?
Young is how young one feels, and so it is open for all those who feel
young at heart and in their spirit. Of course, school-going kids are
excluded from the Y because the Youth Group exists to cater to their
needs.
What is Y’s focus?
Y’s
activities can be divided into three points:
Faith:
Weekly Bible studies will be held to strengthen each other’s faith and
to help one another grow into a deeper and closer walk with God.
eg:
A structured format like ‘purpose driven church’ or a video series or a
book in the Bible will be under the spotlight.
Service:
Outreach programs that are either evangelistic or have a social service
angle, but having a clear aim of reaching out to the world outside with
God’s love.
eg:
organizing career seminars like Career Quest, clearing the beach,
visiting labour camps, supporting ECC in some of its activities,
organizing mentor programs for youth, helping Rama Rao or Sanjeev to
clean the church, etc.
Fellowship:
Activities that foster friendships and build a strong bond of fellowship
will remain a key focus at the Y. The objective is to help new believers
or – even newcomers to Bahrain – to have friendships with fellow
Christians, and to be encouraged by one another and to give them the
assurance that they are not alone.
eg:
Going out for meals, organising potlucks, barbecues, desert outings,
swimming, movies, bowling, jogging, etc.
